On the afternoon of August 21, 2025, a wildfire sparked on private land in Jefferson County, just a couple miles northeast of Sisters, Oregon. Within days, the Flat Fire had exploded across more than 23,000 acres of Central Oregon, pushing nearly 4,000 homes into evacuation orders and threatening the small mountain town we call home.
For our family, the Flat Fire was not a headline. It was a Level 3 "Go Now" knock at the door, a hurried evacuation, and a long drive away from everything we had built. We packed what we could, looked back at the home we love, and left not knowing what we would return to.
What we came back to was something we will never forget. Brave men and women had run toward the flames while we ran from them. Fire crews, hotshot teams, EMS responders, and volunteers from across the state stood between our homes and the burn. They protected our neighborhood. They protected our neighbors. They protected the community we have built our lives around. Fire Proof Salt & Seasoning was born out of gratitude for them.
